Editorial
In March 2007, the European Union Ministers asked the Member States to commit to energy consumption and Green House Gases* (mainly CO2) emissions reductions of 20%, as well as a portion of 20% of renewable energies in their energy production. The horizon of this "three times 20% objective" is 2020.

Client Successes

The Energy and Utilities sector accounted for 13% of total Group Revenues for Capgemini in 2006, providing consulting and IT services to nine out of the Platts Top ten Oil and Gas 'super majors'.  This section provides insight into some of the pioneering transformation projects that Capgemini has been working on in the oil and gas sector, while illustrating how its highly collaborative approach enables it to build long term trusted partnerships with its clients.
Industry Insight

Capgemini provides timely insight on two key themes within the oil and gas sector.  As well as an analysis of the current M&A environment for the upstream oil and gas sector - and the implications of increased interest from national oil companies - it examines the implications of the widely speculated emergence of a gas cartel and the steps the EU must take to protect its security of supply and political position.
News on Capgemini Solutions

Capgemini provides insight into the progress major operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf are making in pioneering the use of smart operations, otherwise known as integrated operations (IO).  Many upstream players are now looking towards a second wave of IO implementation having already delivered operational improvements through improved on-offshore communication, multi-disciplinary collaboration and decision making through the integration of real time data, technology, and operational work processes.  Capgemini recently launched EPiCentre, a national Centre of Excellence initiative to leverage the unique experience and capabilities acquired from 30 years of close cooperation with key operators and services companies on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
